Ingredients

  • 200 g ladyfingers (savoiardi)
  • 0.5 cup brewed espresso cooled
  • 250 g mascarpone cheese
  • 0.5 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon coffee liqueur optional
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt
  • additional cocoa powder for dusting

Method

  1. Step 1: Crush the ladyfingers in a food processor until fine crumbs form.
  2. Step 2: In a large mixing bowl, combine mascarpone cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Mix until smooth and creamy.
  3. Step 3: Add cooled espresso and coffee liqueur (if using) to the mascarpone mixture and stir until well incorporated.
  4. Step 4: Gradually fold in the ladyfinger crumbs until the mixture becomes uniform and thick enough to roll.
  5. Step 5: Using your hands, shape the mixture into small balls about the size of a walnut.
  6. Step 6: Place the balls on a parchment-lined tray and dust lightly with cocoa powder.
  7. Step 7: Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to set, or serve immediately for a softer texture.

Notes

These tiramisu balls can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. For a boozy twist, increase the coffee liqueur slightly or roll them in cocoa mixed with espresso powder before chilling.
