Ingredients
Method
- Preheat your oven to 350℉ (175℃).
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.
- While the meat cooks, prepare the biscuit dough by combining biscuit mix and water in a bowl. Stir and mix by hand until well combined.
- Spray a 9x13" casserole dish with cooking spray. Press the dough into the dish and bake for 5–8 minutes until lightly golden. Remove but leave oven on.
- Add chopped onion and red bell pepper to the beef. Cook for 4 minutes. Stir in taco seasoning. Remove from heat.
- Spread the beef mixture evenly over the baked biscuit base.
- In a bowl, mix sour cream, mayonnaise, drained green chiles, ¾ cup shredded cheese, and garlic powder. Spread over the beef layer.
- Spoon salsa over the sour cream layer and top with the remaining shredded cheese.
- Bake the casserole uncovered for 30 minutes or until hot and bubbly. Let rest 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
Drain beef well to avoid sogginess. Spread dough evenly for a stable base. Use mild or spicy salsa based on taste. Add beans or corn for variation. Ground turkey works well as a substitute for beef.
