Ingredients
  

  • 3 tbsp Unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves Garlic, grated or minced
  • 3 tbsp All-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup Chicken broth
  • 1.5 cups Milk (skim or whole)
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp Chicken or vegetable bouillon powder
  • 0.25 cup Parmesan cheese, fresh grated
  • to taste Salt & pepper
  • 2 tbsp Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
  • 2 cups Fresh broccoli florets, uncooked
  • 4 cups Cooked or rotisserie chicken, shredded or diced
  • 2 cups Ham, diced
  • 2 cups Swiss cheese, shredded
  • 0.25 cup Parmesan cheese, fresh grated
  • 1 cup Panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 tbsp Butter, melted

Method
 

  1. Step 1: Melt 3 tablespoons butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Step 2: Add grated or minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Step 3: Reduce heat to low, whisk in flour, and cook for 1 minute.
  4. Step 4: Slowly whisk in chicken broth and milk until smooth.
  5. Step 5: Add Dijon mustard, bouillon powder, and Parmesan. Cook 2–3 minutes until thickened, whisking constantly.
  6. Step 6: Adjust consistency with small splashes of milk if needed. Season with salt and pepper.
  7. Step 7: Stir in parsley, if using.

Notes

For extra richness, substitute half the milk with half-and-half. Fresh broccoli softens as the casserole bakes, no pre-cooking required.
