Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup warm water about 110°F / 43°C
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter softened
Cinnamon Swirl
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup granulated sugar

Method

  1. Dissolve the yeast in warm water with a pinch of sugar. Let sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and softened butter.
  3. Pour the activated yeast mixture into the bowl and mix until a soft dough forms.
  4. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Roll the risen dough into a rectangle on a lightly floured surface.
  7. In a small bowl, mix together the cinnamon and sugar, then sprinkle evenly over the dough.
  8. Starting from a short end, roll the dough tightly into a log.
  9. Place the dough into a greased loaf pan, cover, and let rise for 30–45 minutes.
  10. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 35–40 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
  11. Remove from the pan and cool on a wire rack before slicing and serving.

Notes

For extra richness, brush the warm loaf with melted butter after baking. Store leftovers tightly wrapped at room temperature for up to 2 days or freeze for longer storage.
