Crispy Chicken Wonton Tacos

Ingredients
  

Chicken
  • 2 whole boneless skinless chicken breasts thinly sliced
  • ΒΌ cup teriyaki sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil divided
  • 1 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger grated
Slaw
  • 2 cups coleslaw mix cabbage and carrots
  • 2 stalks green onions thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp honey
Assembly
  • 12 whole wonton wrappers
  • 2 tbsp sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds
  • 2 tbsp cilantro chopped

Method
 

  1. In a bowl, marinate the chicken with teriyaki sauce, 1/2 tablespoon sesame oil, soy sauce, garlic, and ginger for 10 minutes.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the chicken for 5–7 minutes until fully cooked and lightly caramelized.
  3. In a separate bowl, toss together the coleslaw mix, green onions, rice vinegar, honey, and remaining sesame oil.
  4. Heat oil in a frying pan and lightly fry the wonton wrappers for 20–30 seconds per side until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
  5. Fill each crispy wonton with chicken and slaw, then drizzle with sweet chili sauce.
  6. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped cilantro. Serve immediately.

Notes

For extra crunch, serve the filling and wonton shells separately and assemble just before eating. These also work well as a party appetizer.
