Ingredients
Method
- Step 1: Prepare the Dough
Whisk together 2 cups flour, sugar, yeast, baking powder, and salt. In a separate bowl, mix warm milk, melted butter, red food coloring, vanilla, and egg. Combine wet and dry ingredients, then gradually add remaining flour until a soft dough forms. Knead 8–10 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise 1–1½ hours, until doubled in size. - Step 2: Prepare the Filling
Mix softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon into a paste. Set aside chocolate chips if using. - Step 3: Roll and Assemble
Punch down dough and roll into a 16×12-inch rectangle. Spread filling evenly, sprinkle chocolate chips, and roll tightly from the long side. Cut into 12 rolls and place in a greased 9×13-inch pan. Cover and rise for 30 minutes. - Step 4: Bake the Rolls
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake rolls 20–25 minutes or until puffed and golden. Do not overbake. - Step 5: Make the Frosting
Beat cream cheese and butter until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla, adjusting consistency with milk as needed. - Step 6: Frost and Serve
Cool rolls slightly, then spread frosting generously over the top. Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
For an extra treat, drizzle with melted white chocolate or sprinkle crushed pecans on top. Store leftovers covered in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat gently before serving.
