Ingredients

  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 0.25 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 4 cups green beans (fresh, frozen, or canned)
  • 1.33 cups crispy fried onions

Method

  1. If using frozen green beans, thaw and drain. For fresh beans, trim, cut, and blanch briefly. Drain canned beans well. Preheat oven (or air fryer) to 350°F.
  2. Whisk together condensed soup, milk, and soy sauce until smooth.
  3. Add green beans, 2/3 cup fried onions, and black pepper. Gently fold to coat.
  4. Transfer mixture to a 9×9-inch baking dish and bake for 25 minutes (10 minutes in air fryer) until bubbling.
  5. Stir gently, top with remaining fried onions, and bake 5 more minutes (2 minutes in air fryer) until golden and crisp.

Notes

Use whole milk for the creamiest texture. Keep the topping onions separate until the final bake so they stay crisp.
