Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup beef broth
  • cup soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 pinch red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 10 ounces linguine
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 4 stalks green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Method

  1. Cook the linguine according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add minced garlic to the skillet and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Stir in brown sugar, beef broth, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, ground ginger, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Mix well and bring to a gentle simmer.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together cornstarch and water. Pour into the skillet and stir until the sauce thickens, about 2–3 minutes.
  6. Add cooked linguine to the skillet and toss until noodles are evenly coated in the sauce.
  7. Garnish with sliced green onions and serve hot.

Notes

You can swap linguine for lo mein, spaghetti, or rice noodles. Add sautéed bell peppers or broccoli for extra texture and color.
