Ingredients
  

  • 1 box Vanilla cake mix
  • 1 box (3 oz) Orange gelatin mix
  • 1 cup Orange juice
  • 0.5 cup Vegetable oil
  • 3 eggs Large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon Orange zest
  • 1 cup Butter, softened
  • 4 cups Powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons Orange extract (optional)

Method
 

  1. Step 1: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 8-inch round cake pans.
  2. Step 2: In a large mixing bowl, combine the cake mix and orange gelatin mix.
  3. Step 3: Add orange juice, vegetable oil, eggs, vanilla extract, and orange zest. Beat until the batter is smooth and well combined.
  4. Step 4: Divide the batter evenly into the prepared pans and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
  5. Step 5: For the frosting, beat softened butter until light and fluffy. Gradually add powdered sugar, then mix in heavy cream and orange extract (if using) until smooth and creamy.
  6. Step 6: Frost one cake layer, stack the second on top, and frost the entire cake evenly. Decorate as desired.
