Method
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange hard taco shells upright in a baking dish so they stand without tipping.
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and diced onion until browned. Drain excess fat. Add minced garlic and taco seasoning; cook for 1 minute. Stir in tomato sauce or salsa and simmer 5 minutes.
- Spoon the seasoned beef mixture evenly into each taco shell. Top each generously with shredded cheese.
- Bake for 10–15 minutes or until shells are crispy and cheese is fully melted.
- Remove from oven and top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, red onion, and cilantro. Serve with sour cream, guacamole, jalapeños, or hot sauce if desired.
Notes
For extra crunch, brush the inside of the shells lightly with oil before filling. You can also swap ground beef for turkey, chicken, or black beans.
