Method
- Preheat the Oven: Set oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- Make the Crust: In a large bowl, combine melted butter, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt. Add flour and stir until the mixture is crumbly.
- Form the Base: Press about two-thirds of the crumble mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan to form the crust.
- Prepare the Apples: In a separate bowl, toss the sliced apples with cinnamon and nutmeg until evenly coated.
- Assemble: Spread the apple mixture evenly over the crust. Drizzle salted caramel sauce over the apples, then sprinkle the remaining crumble mixture on top.
- Bake: Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
- Cool and Serve: Let the bars cool completely in the pan before cutting. Enjoy plain or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra indulgent treat.
Notes
For extra flavor, add chopped pecans to the topping or drizzle additional caramel just before serving. These bars store well in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, or refrigerated for up to 5 days.
