Ingredients
Method
- Preheat oven according to cake mix package instructions. Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish. Prepare and bake the yellow cake according to the package directions.
- Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and let cool for 10 minutes. Use the handle of a wooden spoon or a skewer to poke holes evenly all over the cake.
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the brewed coffee, Kahlua, melted butter, and granulated sugar. Stir until the sugar is fully dissolved and the mixture is warmed through.
- Slowly pour the warm coffee-Kahlua mixture evenly over the cake, allowing it to seep into the holes. Let the cake cool completely to absorb the liquid.
- Spread the whipped topping evenly over the cooled cake, covering the entire surface.
- Refrigerate the cake for at least 2 hours before serving to allow flavors to meld.
- Before serving, garnish with chocolate shavings, crushed nuts, or coffee beans if desired. Slice and enjoy chilled.
Notes
For a stronger cocktail flavor, add an extra 2–3 tablespoons of Kahlua to the glaze. You can also mix a splash of vodka into the glaze for a more authentic White Russian twist.
